1.3 Intended use
The hose box is used to water the garden and is intended for use in private home
and hobby gardens. The hose box is only suitable for outdoor use. The hose
box is not intended for use in public facilities, parks, sports facilities, on roads or
in agriculture and forestry. The hose box is not food safe and is not intended for
contact with food. The water from the hose is not suitable for drinking.The hose
module is not intended for use outside of the hose shaft. The hose module is only
suitable for installation in the hose shaft with the cover in the working position
(see 5.1.1 Bringing the cover into the working position [Fig. D2]) as part of the
hose box (Art. 18650).

2.2 Selecting the installation location
CAUTION!
Risk of injury due to heavy weight.
→ Check whether you can lift the hose box on your own. Seek assis-
tance if necessary.
→ Use the handles provided to assemble and disassemble the hose
module
.
→ Select a mounting location where the hose box is inaccessible to chil-
dren.
→ Install the product on a lawn or in a bed.
→ Do not install the product on walkways due to a risk of slipping, especi-
ally in frosty conditions.
→ Choose a location from which water from a possibly defective hose
cannot enter your house.
→ Select a mounting location that is protected from direct sunlight.
Tip: The hose box works best if you can extend the hose in a straight line
or a maximum of 45° to the left or right.
Note: With the cover
closed, a GARDENA robotic lawnmower may
drive over the hose box.
2.2.1 Use without a pipeline [Fig. A2]
You can connect the hose box to a tap using the supplied connection
hose
or your own garden hose.
→ Choose an installation location near a tap or
→ Choose an installation location from which you can reach a tap with a
garden hose.
2.2.2 Use with pipeline [Fig. A3]
→ Select an installation location that allows you to connect the hose box to
a GARDENA Pipeline.
2.3 Removing the hose module [Fig. B1–B2]
To remove the hose module
, you must rst remove the cover
com-
pletely.
2.3.1 Removing the cover [Fig. B1]
1. Turn the latch to the left to unlock the cover
.
2. Lift the cover
by the handle as far as it will go.
3. Then let it slide down slightly.
4. Open and remove the cover
completely.
The cover
will automatically disengage from the hose guide
.
The hose guide
falls back into the hose shaft
.
2.3.2 Removing the hose module [Fig. B2]
CAUTION!
Risk of injury due to unsecured hose module.
→ Only remove the hose module
when the hose is fully rolled up.
→ Do not pull out the hose if the hose module
is not secured in
the hose shaft
and the cover
is not in the working position,
see 5.1.1 Bringing the cover into the working position [Fig. D2].
→ Remove the hose module
from the hose shaft
using the top of the
handle.
2.3.3 Inserting and closing the cover [Fig. CI 4]
1. Insert the cover
vertically into the hinge provided.
2. Close the cover
.
3. At the end, apply slight pressure to the cover
until you hear a click.
The cover
snaps into the hose guide
.
4. Turn the latch to the right to lock the cover
.
2.4 Installing the nozzle [Fig. B3]
1. Insert the supplied nozzle
onto the end of the hose at the outlet of
the hose module
.
2. Close the nozzle
.
2.5 Preparing and digging a hole
WARNING!
Danger from gas, water or power lines.
→ When digging the hole in the ground, make sure that you do not
damage any gas, water or power lines.
→ Note the pipes on the site plan of the property.
2.5.1 Aligning the hole [Fig. B4]
→ Align the hole so that you can operate the hose box from the front.
→ Align the hole so that you can use the hose in the direction of your main
application area.
Tip: The hose box works best if you can extend the hose in a straight line
or a maximum of 45° to the left or right.
→ If used with a pipeline: align the hole so that you can connect the pipe-
line to the opening
at the rear.

2.5.2 Measuring and digging the hole in the ground [Fig. B5]
The dimensions of the hole in the ground correspond to the product
packaging.
1. Place the product packaging on the ground.
2. Cut the ground generously (plus approx. 10 cm) around the product
packaging to obtain the correct dimensions for the hole in the ground.
3. Dig out the hole.
4. Use the measurement gauge
to check that the hole is about 70 cm
deep.
2.5.3 Filling the bottom of the hole with gravel [Fig. B6]
1. Fill the bottom of the hole with about 20 cm of drainage gravel.
2. To check this, place the hose shaft
without the hose module
on
the gravel.
The top edge of the hose shaft
should be ush with the ground sur-
face.
3. ASSEMBLY (WITHOUT PIPELINE)

→ For installation on a Pipeline system, see 4. Assembly (with Pipeline)
[Fig. CII 1–4].
3.1 Preparing the hose shaft [Fig. CI 1]
→ Break out the entry hole for the connection hose
at the top of the
hose shaft
.
→ If necessary, use pliers to help.
You have created the opening
for the connection hose
.
3.2 Burying the hose shaft [Fig. CI 2]
1. Insert the hose shaft
without the hose module
into the hole.
→ Make sure that the hose shaft
is straight and its top edge is level with
the ground surface. Use a spirit level to check.
2. Close the cover
of the hose shaft
after each operation.
3. Fill the hole with soil again until it is completely lled up to the top edge
of the hose shaft
.
→ Make sure that soil can also get into the cavities under and next to the
hose shaft
(at the side, front and rear).
→ In the meantime, repeatedly compact the soil around the hose
shaft
by hand.
3.3 Inserting and connecting the hose module [Fig. CI 3]
1. Insert the 90° connector
onto the water axle on the side of the hose
module
.
2. Insert the hose onto the 90° connector
on the hose module
.
→ Use the connecting hose
or your own garden hose.
3. Remove the cover
, see 2.3.1 Removing the cover [Fig. B1].
4. Insert the hose module
into the hose shaft
.
5. Insert the hose through the opening previously broken out at the top
edge of the hose shaft
.
6. Then clamp the hose into the hose holder provided.
7. Connect the hose to a tap using the supplied tap connectors.
→ Route the hose so that people cannot trip over it.
